Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Where do Maine-Anjou come from?

This cattle breed originated in France during the mid-1800s. They were known for their excellent size and ability to fatten easily. They take their name from the Maine and Anjou river valleys in France.

What makes Maine-Anjou so special?

There are many reasons why we consider this breed special, but to name a few:

  • Very calm and docile
  • High cutability and marbling qualities
    • One of the highest marbling breeds of continentals
  • High success in performance
  • Mother’s have heavy milking ability
  • Often crossed with Angus to allow better marbling in Angus cattle
  • 100% of their diet is grass and they are grass-finished

Why do you rotate your cattle?

Rotational grazing improves the productivity and health of the land, which in turn keeps our cattle healthy. We put time into making sure our open pastures have the best possible grass with the highest nutrients.

Do you sell the whole animal?

Yes, we sell the entire animal to a single family or up to 4 families of 4 which will feed you for a full year on average.

Do you sell Maine-Anjou beef only?

Yes. While we do have other animals on our family farm, our fullblood Maine-Anjou is the focus for our consumers.

How long does it take to get my beef?

This will depend on whether or not an animal is ready to be processed. If you purchase as a calf, it can take up to 2 years before processing. During this time we keep in touch with you to let you know how your animal is doing.
